Sorry - you've missed it by a long chalk
but there is no need to feel too disappointed because we are doing it all again next year (yeah, I know, gluttons for punishment!)

Once again a successful 'Ale at Amberley' with seventy-six casks of ale and twenty-one tubs of cider. We had to order two extra casks of ale on Saturday morning (including the first chance to taste Dark Star's new beer Kiwi which sold out in four hours) and a further two, mid afternoon, when it became clear that we needed more. All of the cider sold out by Saturday night, so three more were added for the Sunday.

Roger Protz, the well known beer journalist and editor of the Good Beer Guide, came again on the Friday evening and offered to sign his books. Entertainment included Morris men, steam engines & vintage buses, with blues group Russ Payne and the Shark dentists providing a good musical accompaniment to Saturday night. There were craft and food stalls during Saturday and Sunday and many people decided to make the most of the warm sunny Saturday evening to stay on for the beer festival.

The kiln cellared ale this year was Hammerpot's Special Reserve Bottle Wreck Porter 6%. It proved to be a complex dark, rich stout porter.

Next years dates are likely to be 29 August to 1 September 2013

This short video was recorded for us by Cinemedia, to whom many thanks.

from which you can see everyone had a wonderful time"

And in case you are in any doubt there were in excess of 70 real ales, ciders and perries to suit all pallets
(Ale at Amberley 7 Beer List)

Once again some ale, this time from the Hammerpot Brewery, was cellared in the De Witt Kilns:

Music on Saturday Night, described as "Maximum Blues Rock", was provided by
Russ Payne and the Shark Dentists
who, despite our original assertions that they were from Birmingham, are actually from the Oxford area!
Sorry, our mistake there.
But they played an excellent set with songs from the 60s and 70s including classics orignally recorded by Jimi Hendrix and Cream. (Some would say that Strange Brew is a very appropriate song for an Ale Festival!). What more could you ask?
